Nisarg Srishti Welfare Foundation (NSWF) is launching an innovative Real-Time dB Monitoring Initiative to continuously monitor environmental noise levels across public spaces, educational institutions, hospitals, industrial areas, and urban locations. The project aims to develop a scientific, technology-driven system that provides accurate and live noise pollution data for better environmental management and public awareness.
Through advanced IoT-enabled sound monitoring devices, NSWF seeks to create a reliable database that supports policymakers, researchers, and citizens in building a healthier and quieter environment.
About the Initiative
Under this Real-Time dB Monitoring Project, NSWF will undertake:

Field-based noise monitoring conducted by trained student volunteers using calibrated digital Sound Level Meters.

Real-time dB level assessments at public locations such as traffic junctions, schools, hospitals, marketplaces, residential areas, and industrial zones.

Special noise monitoring drives during festivals, public events, and other occasions to evaluate the impact of celebrations on environmental noise levels.

Traffic Signal Noise Monitoring Initiative
As part of the Real-Time dB Monitoring Project, NSWF conducts field-based noise monitoring activities at major traffic intersections with the support of trained student volunteers.
During each survey, volunteers visit selected traffic signals and measure real-time noise levels (dB) using calibrated Sound Level Meters. The collected data helps identify areas experiencing excessive noise pollution during different times of the day.
After the monitoring process, volunteers interact with Traffic Police personnel to discuss the observed noise levels, major causes of excessive noise, and practical solutions to reduce noise pollution. These discussions also help understand local traffic challenges and encourage collaborative efforts toward creating quieter and safer public spaces.
The project promotes awareness among commuters by educating them about responsible road behavior, avoiding unnecessary honking, and following traffic discipline. All collected data is scientifically documented for further analysis, reporting, and future environmental planning.

School Noise Monitoring Initiative
As part of the Real-Time dB Monitoring Project, NSWF conducts noise monitoring and awareness activities in schools with the support of trained student volunteers.
During each visit, volunteers measure the noise levels (dB) at different locations within the school campus, including classrooms, playgrounds, corridors, and assembly areas, using calibrated Sound Level Meters. The collected data helps assess the school's noise environment and identify areas where excessive noise may affect students' concentration and learning.
After the monitoring activity, volunteers interact with students and teachers to explain the importance of maintaining a healthy noise environment. Awareness sessions focus on the harmful effects of excessive noise on learning, concentration, hearing, and overall well-being. Students are encouraged to adopt responsible behaviour by avoiding unnecessary shouting and promoting a quieter, more disciplined school environment.
The collected observations are documented and used to support future awareness programs and scientific analysis of environmental noise in educational institutions.
